Ellen's Safari Poem
(a verse contributed by Sheelagh & Carmen)
AFRICAN TOUCH / STOLEN MOMENTS SAFARI
Karoma drove the truck called Sangoma
Across the Rift Valley we did ‘roama’
While Tasha and her boys
Complete with Tana and toys
Made sure we all felt quite at ' homea’
The Norwegians were part of our crew
The five of them climbed Kili, too
They drank Castle and Tusker
Ate all they could muster
On safari there is so much to do.
Tore and Liv Ingrid when given a chance
While in Africa would get up and dance
The Masai could leap
Not a small feat
But with Tore the girls were entranced!
Ronny’s a really great guy
Wild animals he could easily spy
Just one mistake
Anyone could make
When the black rhino he saw was a lie.
Now Bjorn made a similar mistake
When he took a wheelbarrow track for a snake
And Jan Kare you know
Thought his camera he’d stow
'Tween his knees ... then to a Toilet below
Dennis, our split-nationality boss
Words in Norwegian and English he’d toss
Despite all the jokes
He aimed at us folks
Without him we’d all be quite lost.
Sheelagh and Carmen and Jack
Were related and that is a fact
Sheelagh the shopper
(We just couldn’t stop ‘er)
While the photographers’ went “ whirr ” “snap, snap snap”.
Ellen, experienced at climbing
Is also real good at just rhyming
She wrote us a poem
To send us all home
Which demonstrates fabulous timing.
The food on the trip was just fine
Served three times a day and on time
Amos would cook
Without recipe book
And Tony was helpful and kind.
The African animals Karoma knew
His facts and his stories all true
In Swahili or Kiwi
He knows their shit from a wee-wee
“Remember it’s a safari – not a zoo!”
