WHAT IF I WANT TO TRAVEL WITH THE AFRICAN TOUCH BUT I’M ON MY OWN?

That is not a problem; you can always have your own tent and room. There will be a single supplement for the eight nights spent in bungalows. Alternatively we will do our best to fit you together with another same sex guest travelling alone if you choose.

WHY SHOULD I DO MY SAFARI IN EAST AFRICA?

There is a wonderful, wide variety of attractions and highlights. Game viewing in Kenya & Tanzania is simply fantastic with a rich safari history, while Uganda is a must if travelling to East Africa. A favourite for many with its lush, beautiful scenery and friendly people.

CAN YOU PROVIDE ME WITH A REFERENCE FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS TRAVELLED WITH THE AFRICAN TOUCH?

Definitely, some of our guests have volunteered to speak with potential travellers, so just let us know if you would like the telephone number of a past guest. Additionally, we hold information evenings where we will try to bring along a past passenger to talk to you.

WHAT SORT OF SHAPE DO I NEED TO BE IN?

Participants must be fit and active and able to cope with the wilderness travelling, living under canvas, putting up tents etc. With the 28 day safari there is 5 walking days, each walking day involves 3-5 hours on foot.

WHAT TYPE OF CLOTHING DO I NEED TO BRING?

After you book your trip we provide you with our pre-departure pack which includes information on packing. There are no special items that you need to purchase for your safari. Casual wash and wear clothing is the most appropriate. During the day, the best clothing is shorts or safari pants. Lightweight cotton or nylon tops and cotton or nylon shirts are the norm.

WHAT KIND OF MEDICAL CARE DO I NEED BEFORE I GO TO EAST AFRICA?

Before you leave for an international destination you should consult your doctor. The pre-departure materials you receive from The African Touch include information about vaccinations and other health related matters you should discuss with your doctor. You will also need to decide on a malaria prevention medication and we’ll give you detailed recommendations for personal mosquito prevention measures you should follow while in East Africa.

WHAT KIND OF WEATHER CAN I EXPECT ON SAFARI?

Most of East Africa is savannah. Altitude ranges from 3,000 to 7,000 feet (915-2130 meters). Temperatures during the day range from 23 to 33 degrees Centigrade. Nights are cool with temperatures dipping as low as 5 degrees Centigrade in some areas (Ngorongoro Crater, for example). Even though you will be traveling near the equator, please take our packing recommendations seriously.

WHAT TAX IS CALCULATED IN THE PAYMENT?

The Cost includes the tax. There is no tax on the KITTY amount you bring with you.
